Your bars are structurally unsafe. In a nutshell, nails have strength only in a shear position, not longitudinal.
Thank you for your concern. These are not installed with nails (I do not care for hammers around my fingers) and I do know about the longitudinal vs shear strength. These were installed with industrial screws rated with a very high load test (some German company). These bars are obviously no longer used either.
